FAQs What should I do to help my tiller operate as smoothly as possible? 5/19/2009 2:39:00 PM Answer Be sure the wheels are locked in securely, as the wheels act as breaks while the tines are tilling dirt.  Also try lowering the drag stake so it is far enough in the ground.  Ensure that the tines are rotating in the appropriate direction.  The sharp edges need to reach the ground before the blunt edges.
